Early production Type I Remington-Elliot Double Derringer, #1622, .41 RF short cal., 3" barrels, nickel finish, blued hammer and trigger, no extractor, two-piece rosewood grips, integral blade front sight, and fixed notched rear sight. Left side of the barrel is marked "ELLIOTS. PATENT DEC 12, 1865". Right side "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y.". Matching number on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. Mfgd circa 1866, with less than 2,000 Type I produced without the extractor. Overall condition is near fine, retaining approx. 70%-75% factory nickel finish, with losses primarily to the grip frame and right side of the barrel. Factory lettering is clear. Hinge is not damaged. Grips are near excellent, with only a few light handling marks, and a majority of their rich oil finish present. Action is crisp. Bore is dark with general moderate erosion and clearly defined rifling. Contained in lockable concealment book case, with blue interior, and 6-cartridge storage capacity. Marked on the spine "TWIN BARREL JUSTICE --- REMINGTON". In fine overall condition, showing scuffs and wear to the leather binding and corners. Est.: $1,600-$2,200.
