Eagle Nest was a young Cheyenne warrior who was a member of the Lightning Society. It is believed when he was killed during the Hancock Campaign in 1867 a soldier picked up his knife and sheath and gave it to Custer. Custer liked to collect war trophies from each battle and this knife was in his collection of items brought to Monroe, Michigan by Custer's wife, Elizabeth, after his death at Little Bighorn.
