9X19MM CONVERSION MODEL 1900/06 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 23365. Bbl. 4 3/4". Model 1900/06 (as frequently referred to as the "06/24") Luger semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum mfg. in Switzerland by Waffenfabrik Bern in 1924. While little information is available regarding this variation, research suggests that Swiss citizens could ship their Lugers back to Waffenfabrik Bern in order to have another bbl. installed, which included longer 7.65mm bbls. and in a small number of instances, the installation of a 9x19mm Parabellum bbl., such as this. This example is marked with a Swiss Federal Cross over "M" on the left side of the bbl. extension, indicating inspection by Major Muhlemann. Toggle is marked with a Federal Cross above "WAFFENFABRIK/ BERN". Pressure bearing parts and components exhibit a small Swiss Federal Cross firing proof. Rear of bbl. is marked with the S#, followed by a "BP" (Beschubprobe) proof on the flange. Metal components exhibit a Swiss arsenal blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting an apparent enhanced straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Swiss checkered wood wide border grips, and features a grip safety. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl. (flange), bbl. extension (lug), breechblock, forward toggle link (underside), rear toggle link, as well as the grips. MAGS: x1 plated 8-rd. with unmarked wood plug. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their Swiss arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, some scattered spots of thinning on the grip straps and grip safety, as well as a few superficial handling marks overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as a few superficial marks and small impressions from handling and storage. Left panel exhibits a professionally repaired chip, in the usual area to the right of the safety lever. A exceptionally attractive example of a scarce Swiss Luger variation that is seldom encountered. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert. (26-1161/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
