MARKED CZ27 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, WITH MATCHING MAGAZINE. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 237252. Bbl. 3 7/8". 1 of only approx. 500 "Military-Blue" variation CZ27 semi-automatic pistols mfg. in German occupied Czechoslovakia for German police use, falling just below the reported S# range (237858-268975, # reported: 4) as noted on page 241 of "Axis Pistols", by Jan C. Still. The left side of the slide is marked "Pistole Modell 27 Kal. 7,65", with "BOHMISCHE WAFFENFABRIK A.G. IN PRAG", followed by the S# on the top. Left side of the forward trigger guard web is marked with a German Eagle/K police proof. Underside of bbl. exhibits an Eagle/WaA76 proof. Slide exhibits a lightly polished blue finish with the frame exhibiting a matte blue finish. Trigger, hammer, and grip screws are strawed, with the bbl. being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece "CZ" logo checkered brown synthetic wrap around grip. Fixed half-moon blade front sight, with dovetailed V-notch rear sight. Slide is the only component that exhibits a S#. MAGS: 1 8-rd. mag., marked "P. Mod 27", with a "2" above a matching "252" marked towards the toe. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their original factory blue finishes, exhibiting some light to mild wear and thinning, with some scattered spots of dark oxidation present primarily on the frame. Strawed parts retain the majority of their finish, exhibiting some wear through to gray patina. Trigger shows some light pitting on the left side and has possibly been touched up at one time. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting some spots of light pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grip shows some smoothing to the checkering, as well as some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. An exceptionally attractive example of an extremely scarce Eagle/K proofed CZ27. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-340/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
