SMITH & WESSON MODEL 39 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 63050. Bbl. 4". 1 of only 927 steel frame Model 39 semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Smith & Wesson in 1966, this example being part of the second batch, falling between S#s 60000-64000. The left side of the slide is marked "SMITH & WESSON", followed by S&W's mfg. information, with "PAT'S PENDING" marked on the right. Left side of the frame is marked with the S# above "MODEL 39", with the S&W trademark logo marked on the right. Right side of the frame, slide, and bbl. exhibit British proofing. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the checkered alloy back strap, which exhibits a black anodized finish. Chamber area of the bbl. is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece S&W trademark logo medallion checkered wood grips. Slide features an early long pattern extractor, with a serrated blade front sight and micrometer adj. square notch rear sight. MAGS: x3 blued steel 8-rd., x2 matte blue, x1 polished blue. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box, containing a factory diagram, parts list, and instructions pamphlet. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light edge wear, with scattered superficial handling marks overall. Alloy grip strap shows small scattered superficial handling marks. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few small spots of minor pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. Box exhibits moderate wear, showing 2 corner tears on the lid (1 with taped repair), with a tear also present on the body.
