CLASS "B" FACTORY ENGRAVED OFFICER'S MODEL TARGET .22 DA REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL BOX. Cal. 22LR. S# 16436. Page 357 of "BOOK OF COLT FIREARMS" by R.L. Wilson states that only approximately 20 of these revolvers were engraved at the factory. Subject revolver features 75% coverage Class "B" foliate scroll engraving. High gloss full blue finish with matte finished top of frame & backstrap. Engraving is likely the work of noted Master Engraver Wilbur Glahn. Glahn began working for Colt in 1919 and was the primary engraver until his death in 1951. He is considered the last in a long line of engravers who immigrated from Germany. Bbl. 6" with target sights. Checkered backstrap, trigger, hammer spur & cylinder release latch. Checkered walnut grips with silver RAMPANT COLT medallions. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Factory letter stating the following: Serial Number: 16436 / Caliber: .22/c / Barrel Length: 6" / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Factory Engraved: Yes, Class "B" engraving. / Shipped To: Loon Account Von Lengerke and Antoine / Address: Chicago, Illinois / Date of Shipment: December 11, 1936 / Colt Factory Order: #16362/1 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 1 . Original maroon hinged cardboard box containing instruction papers. Box has factory labels "ENGRAVED", "B", "TARGET & PATRIDGE SIGHTS". Bottom of box is penciled with matching serial number. CONDITION: exceptionally fine overall. Undoubtedly one of the finest in existence. Metal surfaces retain 98+% factory original blue with only the slightest hint of muzzle wear, faint cylinder drag line, and approx. 3/8" spot of freckling at bottom of toe and on bottom half of front strap. Stocks are near excellent with crisp checkering. Bright bore shows sharp rifling. Box is good overall, complete with corner & edge wear. Lid has separation at two corners. (26-337/BH).
