REVOLVER. Cal. 45. S# 140-00015. Bbl. 7 1/2" with integral serrated blade and ramped base; frame mounted black alloy factory adjustable rear sight. Mfg. 1972 (1972-2008) as BP7; not BP7B (brass frame version). High polished finish, yet only slightly more than normal; normal finish on cylinder. Fitted with Ruger brass frame but not listed as shipped with brass frame per Ruger author John Dougan's list of all brass framed Rugers. Ruger would fit brass frames for customers who sent in their revolvers & also offered them for sale for owner fitting. Likely done by Ruger for Keith as he was strong proponent of Dragoon grip style. Highly figured grips with black eagle medallions. Original "No Charge" invoice indicates BP7 with this serial number and Model code 1401. Order date is 7-14-72 with ship date of 9-5-72. Noted author and firearms expert, Elmer Keith, was a personal friend and advisor of Bill Ruger and he received every firearm serial numbered 15 from the factory as his subscription number; references indicate less than 300 subscription numbers were issued with the lower numbers being most significant. This Old Army was sold for the first time by the Keith family in March of 2015 at Poulins, and we are pleased to be able to offer it again along with its stainless #15 counterpart; both were sold together originally as a set. Has standard blued hammer (in the white sides) and wide serrated trigger of Super Blackhawk style; no "warning marks" on barrel (initiated 1978). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: good, matching numbered 2 piece black and red factory box with Ruger nipple wrench. Wear & cracking to box cover & 1 broken corner on bottom plus frayed on end. Original invoice plus unusual piece of carbonized register style paper that has some values with a total of "140,000.15" which is not the total of the 5 numbers listed. Note paper from Northern Pacific Railway that is very faded stating 155 Bullets, .455" diameter and 131 grains (the powder charge?). Original warranty card, but no manual. CONDITION: extremely faint cylinder turn line & very light function wear on bullet seater. Dull tone to brass frame. Near excellent bore and grips. (01-29015/NW). ANTIQUE. $1,250-1,750.
