ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 369098. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 5-09". Receiver manufactured in 1909 and has not been updated with the Hatcher hole. Bolt with its correct straight down handle is marked underneath safety lug with "B". Marking underneath bolt handle is not legible. Ladder rear sight with bright face on the sight leaf is graduated to 2,850 yards and equipped with volley notch. Dished windage and elevation knobs. Blade front sight. All milled furniture including fine checkered buttplate. Narrow smooth trigger. The early "S" type straight grip walnut stock with single recoil bolt has low wood on the left side. Marked only with "A" in the cutoff recess and tiny "30" assembly number behind trigger guard. Handguard appears to be later replacement, showing visible machine marks in-front of rear sight base and the semi-circular clearance cut ahead of the windage knob. Brown leather 1907 sling. Dated "1917". Sling has wear, flexing and cracking. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has lightly worn original finish with scattered handling marks. Small missing chip behind receiver tang. Stock is cut for low scope bolt handle. Metal retains 70% of its worn thinning original blue. Front sight base has notable wear from sight cover, which is no longer present. Floorplate has a lightly patina'd appearance. Shiny bore shows lightly worn lands. (26-1521/RW). CURIO. $1,400-1,800.
