LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38 WCF. S# 530. Mfg 1892. This early antique 1892 is fitted with a standard 24" round bbl with early "-MANUFACTURED BY THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.-" bbl address and "38 WCF" caliber marking on the top of the bbl. It has a dovetailed German solver tipped sporting front sight & elevator adj semi buckhorn sporting rear sight. Standard straight grip frame with early "MODEL 1892. / -WINCHESTER- / PAT. OCT 14, 1884." top tang marking. The hammer has the correct early knurling with stylized border. It is fitted with a straight grain smooth walnut stock set with smooth steel crescent buttplate. CONDITION: overall a good honest early example. The bbl finish has mostly faded with some traces in the most protected areas. The balance has an even light brown patina with some dings and a few spots of old oxidation. The frame finish has faded to an even greyish brown patina with some spots of old oxidation and scratches. The stock set has been lightly sanded and refinished. The forearm has a few edge dings and light handling marks. The butt has some chips and loss around the tang, hand wear, and scattered light handling marks. The bore is frosted with pitting and lightly worn rifling. (01-29847/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
