SPORTER CARBINE. Cal. 30-06. S# 82795. Mfg. approx. 1920-1921; Mauser restarted production of commercial rifles in 1920. Carbine 18.5" bbl. Ramp mounted blade front sight & fixed 1 leaf rear sight; Lyman aperture receiver sight. Barrel & receiver has German BU proofs along with "7.6 S" & "U.S. 1906" markings. Round top Mauser action w/ stippling over chamber, notch for Spitzer bullets, thumb recess, clip guide, dbl. triggers, & hinged floorplate export marked "GERMANY". Matching number on bolt handle, cocking knob, & claw extractor. Mannlicher configured checkered walnut stock w/ horizontal sling swivel, metal cap, horn grip cap, toeline swivel & metal groove trapdoor buttplate. CONDITION: good appearing original blue with cleaned oxidation on right side muzzle & metal cap, peppery brown patina throughout & varnish on buttplate. Lightly sanded & refinished stock has handling marks. Bore shows strong rifling with wear & light pitting. (26-55/MD). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
