Deutsche Werke Made in Germany Erfurt, Model #1, .22 Long Rifle

This is a fairly rare single shot, base model, Deutsche Werke-Werk Erfurt Model 1,
built around 1920. It has open sights, on a 19-inch barrel. Condition and rifling are
both fair.

The Deutsche Werke Werk Erfurt Model 1 is German-made, Floberg-style, single-
shot rifle intended for use by youths as a small-game/vermin rifle.
The flip-up breech block type is a Warnant action, used mostly in Flobert rifles.

These youth rifles were built as early as 1919 and as late as 1939. Later models will
have the Waffenan proof marks that denotes an export-only rim-fire rifle.
This one does not have any proof marks, therfore it was made prior to 1933.

There is a calibre marking 5.4mm on the underside of the barrel, and is a European
rating for the calibre.

One note, this rifle was built when .22 ammo was much lower in power, AND IS NOT
BUILT TO HANDLE High Speed MODERN .22LR AMMUNITION.
