"1915" DATE LP.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH FINE TUNE SIGHTS, HOLSTER, & STOCK. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5266. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM in 1915 under contract for the Imperial German military. The bbl. extension is marked with the year of mfg. "1915" over the top of the chamber, with a triad of DWM inspector proofs and an Imperial German Reichsadler marked on the right (Reichsadler repeated on right side of bbl. and left side of breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, save for on some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, checkered mag. release button, safety lever, as well as the ejector. Rear sight slide, mag. release spring, rear toggle pin, and grip screws exhibit a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece fine checkered wood grips. Dovetailed fine-tune blade front sight (eliminated from production in 1917) and dovetailed adj. V-notch rear sight. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., front side blade, rear sight assembly, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. Left grip panel is unnumbered, with the right panel being mismatched via "20". MAGS: x1 plated 8-rd. with wood plug. Plug has been renumbered to match at one time. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Imperially proofed flat board wood shoulder stock and a proper brown leather holster. Lug has been renumbered to match at one time. Interior of holster closure flap exhibits a mostly illegible black ink stamping (appears to read "HAH5X") and a mostly illegible mfg. marking, with legible characters reading "& Co/ NURNBERG/ -1915-". Holster contains a wood handled steel cleaning rod. Loading tool is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light wear overall (predominately on edges), with some scattered small spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. Sideplate exhibits a small spot of pitting on the lower edge. Strawed parts are excellent (appearing to have been touched up or reheated), exhibiting some light wear and thinning, with some scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are very good , exhibiting some light smoothing, as well as some small superficial marks to the diamonds. Stock shows scattered marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with leather fittings exhibiting age related cracking and crazing. Stock retention strap has torn along the left along its stud hole. Holster is malleable, exhibiting some superficial handling marks, and areas of age light age related cracking and crazing, but otherwise remains very good overall. A very attractive LP.08 ensemble.
