Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army Semi-Automatic Pistol, #3961 .45 ACP cal., 5" barrel, blued finish, checkered double diamond walnut grips, standard blade front sight and rounded fixed "U"-notch rear sight. Includes one WWI era two-tone magazine. Mfg'd 1912. Frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with "WGP" (Maj. Walter G. Penfield) inspection mark on the left side. Serial number is located on the right side, towards the front of the frame. Slide has the patent dates to Feb. 14, 1911, and Colt company markings on the left side, with a circled "(Rampant Colt)" at the rear. Right side is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY." Back of the barrel is marked "H". Pistol is in very good overall condition, retaining approx. 75%-80% factory blue, showing areas of mild frosting and general finish wear, particularly on top of the slide, bottom front of the receiver, and the grip area. Factory lettering is clear. Checkered diamond grips are in very good condition. Action works properly. Bore is good with some areas of light pitting; rifling is clearly defined. Est.: $6,000-$8,000.
