Civil War Era Colt 1860 Army Percussion Revolver, #23038, .44 cal., 8" barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut grips with visible cartouche on the left panel, German silver blade front and V-notch rear sight located on the hammer face, four-screw frame, iron back strap, brass trigger guard. Cylinder with engraved battle scene. All-matching visible serial numbers. Factory markings are clear with numerous proof and acceptance marks. Mfg'd 1861. Revolver is in good overall condition, retaining traces of original finish with the majority drifting to gray patina, with scattered spots of mild pitting. Cylinder displays 75%-80% lightly rolled cylinder scene, with legible engagement date. Nipples are original and intact with all the safety pins hammered flat. There is knackering around the wedge, worse on the right side. Backstrap shows some original finish on the apron with areas of darkening and light pitting. Brass trigger guard has been cleaned, now bright. Grips are in fine condition with a legible "BH" cartouche for Benjamin Hannis on the left panel. Action functions well. Bore is fair with moderate erosion; rifling is clearly defined. Est.: $1,500-$2,500. (Antique)
