Civil War Era Colt 1860 Army Percussion Revolver, #66330, .44 cal., 8" barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut one-piece grip with cartouches at the bases, German silver blade front sight, V-notch rear sight located on the hammer face, iron back strap, brass trigger guard, and is cut for a stock. The 6-shot rebated cylinder with naval battle scene. All-matching visible serial numbers, except for the wedge. Factory markings are clear, with military inspection proofs on the barrel, cylinder, and straps. Mfg'd 1862. Revolver is in good overall condition, retaining approx. 15%-20% original finish, with most under the lever and in the protected areas. Barrel shows areas of moderate brown patina, smoothing on the outside right edge, and light erosion on the lugs from firing. The rebated cylinder displays 80%-90% cylinder scene with a partially legible engagement date; nipples are good with all the safety pins intact. Frame, lever, and hammer show muted color case hardened finish, brighter on the sides of the frame. The screw heads are very good with the hammer screw showing turning. Back strap is mostly gray with darker patina near the base. Brass trigger guard shows a pleasant, cleaned patina. Grips are in fine condition with a faint cartouche on the left panel and clear "JT" for John Taylor on the right side. Additionally, the right panel has "J.W.T." carved into it and there is a matching serial number in the channel in blue ink. Action functions well, holding at full and half-cock. Bore is fair with moderate erosion and defined rifling. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (Antique)
