TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 25-20 WCF. S# 394925. Bbl. 24" part rd-oct. with dovetailed sporting front sight and elevator adjustable sporting rear sight (missing sight insert and sight insert securing screw). Deluxe takedown action with custom game scene engraving of 2 pronghorn within a vignette on the right receiver face, 2 elk on the left encircled within a vignette and a bear within a oval panel on the bottom of the receiver. The panels are adorned with grapevine scroll and accents are found on the butt plate and nosecap. Plain trigger. Marbles automatic flexible joint rear tang sight. The lower tang is marked "3769 x". The style H checkered pistol grip figured walnut stock is marked "3769" under the crescent butt plate. The pistol grip is terminated with a Winchester Repeating Arms hard rubber pistol grip cap. The buttplate is marked "C 2833" on the reverse. CONDITION: overall fair. The bbl finish has heavily faded with only 20% remaining and showing high edge wear and moderate oxidation with the exposed metal having a grey patina with staining. The receiver retains 20% bluing with the engraving cut directly over the finish. The balance of exposed metal surfaces have a grey/brown patina with scattered freckling, handling marks, and oxidation. The nicely figured stock set shows scattered moderate handling marks with evidence of a mild sanding and recut checkering. Bore has light frosting, sharp rifling and a few spots of pitting.
