DATE MP40 SUBMACHINE GUN WITH SPARE MAGAZINES. Cal. 9mm (9x19mm Parabellum). S# 1622f. Bbl. 10". MP40 submachine gun mfg. by in Austria by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1942. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S# (to the right of the sling loop) between x4 Steyr Eagle/WaA623 proofs. Top of the lower assembly is marked "MP40/ bnz. 42" above the S#, with Eagle/WaA623 proofing marked on the left, which is repeated on the bbl., rear sight assembly, bolt, and firing pin / telescoping recoil spring. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Lower assembly is mounted with a grooved dark brown pressed resin housing and 2-piece grips. Standard post front sight and 2-leaf (x1 fixed, x1 folding) square notch rear sight graduated "100" and "200". Bbl. is mounted with an original pressed resin mounting bar, which is marked "2205-3" on the bottom flat. All serialized parts are matching and include the receiver, bbl., front sight cover, rear sight assembly, bolt, firing pin / telescoping recoil spring, lower assembly, trigger guard, as well as the stock. Threaded muzzle protected matches via an electro-penciled "622". MAGS: x5 blued steel 32-rd. mags. x4 with "42" dated (x1 "gqm", x1 "98E", x1 "bte" and x2 "gqm" mfg. coded) and x1 "41" dated "bte" mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: x1 Swedish brown leather 4-cell mag. pouch. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some scattered spots and patches of light wear that is fading to gray and brown patinas, some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some scattered spots and patches of light pitting. Bbl. shows thinning overall, with a small patch of mild to moderate pitting present over the top towards the center. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and some small patches of light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Stock has been bent at one time, with the butt over extending downward when unfolded. Pressed resin furniture is very good, showing some superficial handling marks overall. Swedish mag. pouch remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear, some areas of age related cracking and crazing, as well as some losses to the stitching on the left side mounted pouch's closure flap.
