HALF STOCK RIFLE. Cal. 45. NSN. 50" overall, 35" octagonal barrel signed "W. Buchele" curly maple stock, cruder brass furniture, 2 engraved silver insets & pair of nail escutcheons. William Buchelle (1895-1977) author of 2 early texts on recreating the American long rifle was a master craftsman. His Kentucky rifles and pistols are among the finest recreations made in the 1950s-1970s. Cheekpiece has relief carved Native American warrior holding long pipe with brass bowl, unique Buchele design. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, some insets and cruder furniture poorly fit, trigger guard has blacksmith braise, mechanics fine, good rifled bore.(01-27940/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
