REVOLVER. Cal. 38 LC. S# 61054. Bbl. 6" U.S. Army Model of 1894 double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1895. Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT D.A. 38", with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked "R.A.C." (Rinaldo A. Carr) and is repeated on the underside of the bbl., rear of the cyl., and butt of the left grip panel. Butt is marked "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL/ 1894/ No/ 61/ 054". Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Sides of the hammer are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain wood grips. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching assembly # "1054" is present on the frame, cyl. crane, cyl., and cyl. latch. Mainspring tension screw is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, areas of oxidative finish loss, as well as light pitting beneath the finish overall. Grip straps exhibit consistent light surface oxidation. Mirror bore, exhibiting a couple of small scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (01-26692/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
