Cal. 38 Spl. S# 532256. Bbl. 6". Officers Model Target double action revolver mfg. by Colt circa. 1926 (serialized in sequence with the Army Special revolver). Left side of the bbl. is marked "(MALTESE CROSS) OFFICERS MODEL 38 (MALTESE CROSS), with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo. Left side of the frame is electro-penciled with an apparent "Property of/ Kenneth R Smith" beneath the grip panel. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the sides of the hammer, which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips. Partridge blade front sight with red synthetic bead and dovetailed adj. square notch rear sight. Checkered trigger and back strap. Matching numbers are present on the frame and cyl. crane. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, some superficial handling marks, as well as some small scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Sides of the bbl. exhibits patches of wear and thinning that are fading to brown patina on either side of the muzzle. Mirror bore, exhibiting some very light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the left panel exhibiting a chip along the butt. (25-5118/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
