TARGET DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 609551. Bbl. 5 15/16". Officers Model .38 Heavy Barrel double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1950. Left side of the tapered rnd. bbl. is marked "OFFICERS MODEL/ HEAVY BARREL" (each line with Maltese crosses). Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo. Metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish overall. Sides of the hammer are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips. Top strap of frame is inletted with a full length ventilated rib marked "COLT KING SUPER TARGET" on the left. Unmarked King (or King pattern) patridge front sight with white synthetic "bead" and micro-metered windage and elevation adj. square notch rear sight. Grooved trigger with checkered backstrap. Unmarked checkered wide spur hammer. Rear section of trigger guard bow has been drilled and fitted with a trigger stop screw. Action has been tuned, now only functioning in single action, with double action not retracting the hammer, but still rotating the cyl. Rebound lever pin has been replaced and is slightly oversized, resulting in a slight gap between the frame and the grip panels. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few spots on light to mild edge wear (predominately on the edges of the muzzle) some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some spots of very light pitting. Mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics in SA, with aforementioned action tuning not cocking the hammer in DA. Grips show light smoothing and some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (25-5108/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
