1880. Cal. 45 Colt.. S# 61099. This is a honest original U.S. contract Colt Cavalry SAA manufactured 1880 and inspected by David F. Clark as noted by his inspection "DFC" initials on barrel, frame, cylinder, and grips. Standard configuration, 7.5" barrel, 1-line Hartford address, 3-line patent and "US" on left side of frame. Additional "P" proofs on barrel & cylinder. The left side of the grip is dated "1880" and cartouche "CCM" (Lt. Charles C. Morrison) and the right side of the grip has "DFC" (David F. Clark) cartouche. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Accompanied by "Rock Island Arsenal" marked military flap holster and cap box used for cartridges. CONDITION: Very good overall, all matching and complete, traces of blue in protected areas, crisp markings in metal. Grips are well fit with heavy edge wear, Lt. Morrison cartouche discernible, Clark cartouche visible in outline only. Mechanics need attention, revolver cocks fine but cylinder will not hold, good rifled bore. Accompanying holster is well worn with crack and hole through the embossed "US" motif on front, cap box has 2 torn belt loops and looped crossed saber cavalry insignia attached to face.
