STAFF & FIELD OFFICER'S SWORD. High grade model 1850 staff and field officer's sword with eagle head quillon, drooped wing American eagle in basket in place of standard "US", sculpted & fluted silver grip. Pommel has high relief cast eagle & shield. Scabbard is browned steel with raised relief oak leaf & acorn motifs. Blade has 14" fine detailed patriotic panels. CONDITION: very good overall, 30.5" blade is gray with complete discernible etching, traces of gold wash on hilt & scabbard mounts, overall light patina. Scabbard body retains most of its original brown finish, one small dent. PROVENANCE: Marcus Porpora lifelong sword collection. (02-26424-6/JS). NON-GUN. $2,000-4,000.
