POCKET REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S# 688. 8" overall; 4" octagonal barrel, brass sights, frame strap marked: "ADDRESS E. WHITNEY / WHITNEYVILLE CT", frame on left stamped "F. BEALS / PATENT / SEPT. 1854", 7-shot cylinder with rolled scene, unique cylinder shroud on left side, varnished walnut grips, unique cylinder advance by moving ring trigger forward and back. CONDITION: very good overall, scattered traces of finish, overall smooth gray patina, cylinder has complete rolled decorative scene. Grips have tacking marks and large chip. The complex mechanics of revolver work well, fine rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Greg Martin Auctions, lot 177, 2-3-2003. (01-28080/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
