REVOLVER WITH PERIOD IVORY GRIPS. Cal. 44. S# 26409. Mfg. 1862. Fitted with an 8" bbl with 1-line New York address. Standard "COLTS/PATENT" stamped 4 screw frame with recoil shield reliefs for a shoulder stock and capping slot. The brass trigger guard strap is stamped "44 CAL" on the left shoulder. The iron back strap is notched for a stock. The 6-shot rebated cylinder has a very faint mostly illegible roll scene and is SN "21419" with it's cylinder pins nearly entirely worn. It comes with checkered period ivory 1-piece grips. The frame, bbl, straps, & arbor are matching. Loading lever, grips and wedge are unnumbered. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: accompanied by a lightly tooled JC KELSEY slim jim holster with floral motif and silver button accent. CONDITION: overall fair-good. Iron surfaces have turned to a dark patina with bare silver patches. Crisp markings. Replacement modern main spring. Grips are lightly worn with aged cracks, some loss along the back strap and small corner chips. Bore has solid gain twist rifling with some pitting. Holster has some wear, some stitching loss on the belt loop and crazing. (01-29138/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
