PA PERCUSSION LARGE SIZED BELT PISTOLS WITH CASEFROM THE FLAYDERMAN COLLECTION. Cal. 38. NSN. Circa 1840's; William Robertson operated out of 102 Carpenter St.and Krider at 101 So. 2nd in Philadephia in close proximity to the Famous John Krider shop. Both pistols have oval 4.5" barrels with flat tops & swivel ramrods. Breeches marked "ROBERTSON". Locks are corresponding to opposite sides for each pistol with safety. Bag type, wedge fastened, checkered walnut stocks having belt hooks. Pewter finished nose cap & spear-tip finial triggerguard. Silver finished wrist plate. Each butt has silver Coat of Arms; provided material describes the crest as a saracen's head affronte, couped at the shoulders and wreathed about the temples. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Hardwood case with brass corners & red cloth fitted interior. lid has engraved brass plaque "Edward Gardner / Phila". Case contains accessories including 3 cavity bullet mold, key, G. & J. W. Hawksley flask, Lignum Vitae hammer, Lignum Vitae oil bottle & Skyes pattern flask. Case in good overall appearance with scraps & worn interior. Case lid shows separating of 2 piece construction. Case bottom shows 2 large cracks. Lid shows remnants of label with cut-outs to lid cloth. Also included is a folder of paperwork. CONDITION: barrels & locks have good portion of original blue showing varnish overspray, wear & marks. Wood shows heavy varnish with dings, marks & wear to checkering. Straight rifling shows pitting throughout. Appears mechanically fine. (01-29213/MD). ALL ANTIQUE. $6,000-9,000.
