PERCUSSION TRAVELING PISTOLS. Cal. 57. NSN. Per "English Gunmakers" by Bailey, William Hole was an active gunmaker in Bristol, England from 1811-1845.Both fluted 1.5", screw off barrels are fire blued. Brass boxlock action w/ cap guard, sliding hammer safety & folding fire blued trigger. Side of action have "stand-of-arms" engraving. Bottom of actions have "Crown RS" & gun proofs. Walnut bag type grips w/ checkering & German silver rectangular plates. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: compartmentalized Mahogany case with green cloth interior. Case lid has gold shield & banner on top. Case contains F. Joyce & Co along with successor cap tins, Dixon & Son ball & powder flask, single ball mold, ebony handle nipple wrench & key. Also with folder of consignor notes. CONDITION: barrels & triggers have over 80% fire blue with scattered marks. Brass has mustard patina with light marks. Wood have original varnish with numerous light dings & sm. gouges. Bores show little oxidation. Appears mechanically fine. (01-29212 (2) / MD). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
