British Pattern 1914 Bolt Action Rifle, #383711, .303 British cal., 26"barrel, blued finish, walnut stock and handguard, dovetailed blade front sight with protectors, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with aperture and battle sight, graduated to 1650 yards. Rifle was made by the Remington Arms Co. under contract and is very faintly marked "RE" within a circle. There is a very faint roundel stamp on right side of the buttstock that appears to read "IR*", for Mark I Remington with enlarged front bolt lugs. Tip of the forend is stamped with a "2". Matching number stamped on top of the bolt handle. Import stamped "MADE IN U.S.A." on right side of the receiver. Condition overall is very good. Metal has been polished and reblued, now retaining approx. 90%-92% blue, showing operating wear to the bolt body, pitting and patina to the buttplate. Dark wood has been sanded and refinished, now in very good condition, with scattered handling marks and impressions. Long range dial sight and pointer have been removed, with a piece of wood and dowel now spliced in place. Brass marking disc has been removed from right side of the buttstock and a wooden dowel fitted in its place. Action operates smoothly. Bore rates fair to good overall with clear rifling. Est.: $400-$600. (C&R)
