CONVERSIONPOCKET MODEL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 32 RF. S# 2791. Bbl. 2". 1 of only approx. 2,000 (total production between the percussion and cartridge conversion) Pocket Model double action revolvers mfg. by Remington circa. 1860-1873. The top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked "REMINGTON'S ILION. N.Y.", with a pair of diminutive British Crown/GP and Crown/V proofs marked on the lower left quarter flat (British proofs repeated around circumference of cyl.). Metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown hard rubber grips. German silver pin type blade front sight with frame V-notched rear sight. Frame and bbl. are matching via the full S# "2791", with the grips each matching via "91". Cyl. and conversion plate are matching via the assembly # "563". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory nickel plated finish, exhibiting some scattered spots of flaking and light pitting overall. Relatively bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and a few patches of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light wear, as well as some superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. A nice example of a late production and British proofed Remington-Rider Pocket Model revolver, considered by many to be the first double action cartridge revolver produced in the United States. (01-28566/MLW). ANTIQUE. $500-700.
