FOOT OFFICER'S SWORD. 30" unstopped fuller blade, Confederate copy of US 1850 with pierced floral design, undecorated smooth sided quillon unique to most Confederate swords. Pommel has distinct Boyle & Gamble raised laurel leaf decoration. Also unique to this maker is use of white dyed leather which this example shows clearly. CONDITION: sword overall is very good, blade is cleaned gray/bright with pitting, good point. Hilt has olive/dark mustard patina, grip retains 90% original leather and tight single brass wire wrap. Protective washer intact which covers the assembly number which is almost always present on this maker. (02-26607/JS). NON-GUN. $3,000-4,000.
