Cal. 256 Win. Mag. S# 3207. Bbl. 8 1/2" with Blackhawk style front sight, caliber designation below "RUGER HAWKEYE", factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting and "S" proof on top near frame. Mfg. 1963 and 1964 only as RH28; approx. 3,300 units made utilizing Blackhawk cylinder and grip frames with rotating breech block (containing firing pin) in place of a cylinder. Ejector enters the rear of the barrel that also contains the chamber. Being way ahead of its time along with minimal sales and interest, it was discontinued. The cartridge is a 357 Mag. necked to 25 caliber and was also available in the Model 62 Marlin, T/C Contender pistol barrels and the Universal Model 1025 Ferret semi-auto carbine. The revolver style black anodized alloy ejector housing holds the extractor rod assembly. The hammer is similar to the more common Old Army model and the trigger is the wide serrated Super Blackhawk trigger. Standard Blackhawk XR3-RED alloy grip frame and smooth walnut grips with black eagle medallions. Breech block pivot is collared Super Blackhawk style. Standard Blackhawk alloy adjustable rear sight plus drilled through base pin latch. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: good matching numbered (red grease pencil on left edge of label) box with original manual dated 1/3/63 and complete (unused) warranty card. Top has slight seam split on right rear plus both left side corners are broken along with general edge scuffs and uneven top surface. Bottom has corresponding broken left side corners. CONDITION: light scratches on inside of ejector housing. Very light thinning at muzzle. Plum hued "lightning bolts" on right side of cylinder frame as a result of bluing its steel composition. Near excellent bore and grips. (26-1104/NW). CURIO. $2,000-2,750.
