SPECIAL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 376477. Mfg. 1937. The Banker's Special revolvers were produced by Colt from 1926-40. This example was marked on the backs strap by the Boston Police department "B-P-D-4167" in large font. It is fitted with a 2" bbl with 2-line patent address with a final patent date of Oct. 5, 1926. The reverse side of the bbl is marked with the " 38 BANKERS / SPECIAL " 6-shot fluted hand ejecting cylinder is mounted in the round butt frame. Checkered trigger & hammer. Stocked with the original 2-piece dark walnut checkered Colt medallion grips with stamped SN found on the reverse. CONDITION: Overall very fine. The metal retains 95% of its lightly thinning finish that is turning to a brown patina. The grips are hand worn with added varnish and missing the screw bushing on the left panel.
