RIFLE. Cal. 4.5mm. S# 419. Bbl. 23 1/8". Breechloading single shot parlor rifle produced by an unknown mfg. in Belgium. Bottom flat of the bbl. is marked "BELGIUM", followed by "419". Left side of the receiver is marked with 4 Belgian commercial proof marks above "PL.22.L", with 2 additional Belgian proofs marked on the left side of the swiveling breech and the hammer. Right side of receiver and breechblock are marked "45". Sanded and refinished 1-piece plain wood half-stock features checkered panels on either side of the wrist. Dovetailed blade front sight and V-notch rear sight. Left breechblock screw is an apparent replacement. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a gray/brown patina, exhibiting light to mild dark surface oxidation overall. Relatively bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild pitting, while retaining fair to good rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, although the striker spring appears to be absent. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a large crack present on the left side stemming from the receiver / breechblock area, as well as a notable chip on the wrist to the rear of the upper receiver tang.
