SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 GA, 2 3/4". S# 8S15373. Bbl. 27 9/16". A5 "Sweet Sixteen" semi-automatic shotgun mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale and imported/retailed by Browning Arms Company in 1958. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information, above Belgian commercial proofing, with "MADE IN BELGIUM" marked on the right. Sides of the receiver feature sections of foliate scroll engraving and wavy line borders, with "Sweet Sixteen" (Script) above "BROWNING" and a portrait of John Moses Browning on the left, and a triad of Belgian proofs on the right. Scrollwork extends to the receiver tangs as well as on the underside of the trigger guard bow. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt assembly and mag. tube, which are polished in-the-white. Checkered wood finger groove forearm and rnd. knob buttstock with FN horn buttplate. Wood furniture has been sanded and revarnished at one time. Bbl. features a matte V/R with aluminum bead front sight and a fixed Modified choke (indicated via "**" preceding "SPECIAL STEEL" marking). CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina (primarily on edges and contact points), some superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Bolt assembly exhibits scattered spots of oxidation and age related discoloration. Mirror bore, exhibiting several areas of hardened firing residue. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture is very good overall, as sanded and refinished. Buttplate exhibits a large crack through the top screw slot, with chipping and delamination present in the corresponding area.
