Antique Winchester Model 1873 3rd Model Lever Action Rifle, #182913, .44 W.C.F. cal., 24" round barrel, originally with a blue finish, smooth walnut straight grip stock and forend, crescent steel buttplate, replacement dovetailed Marble No.2 blade front sight, and replacement semi-buckhorn rear sight with elevator. Factory markings are clear with legible caliber marking on the base of the brass cartridge elevator. Mfgd 1885. Rifle is in good overall condition, with the metal surfaces having gone to a mostly even gray patina, with areas of light brown patina, and intermittent spots of mild pitting. Magazine tube with scattered shallow dings and mars. Receiver with small indentations and light erosion, particularly on the right side. Loading gate retains a significant amount of blue finish. Hammer and lever show traces of silvered color case hardened finish in the protected areas; balance is mostly dark. There is a piece missing from the upper left edge of the forend. Wood is otherwise very good, with scattered light dents and scratches, and the wood to metal fit is very good. Action functions well. Bore is fair with moderate erosion, deeper near the breech, showing visible rifling. Est.: $1,600-$2,200. (Antique)
