Parker Brothers DH Grade Side-by-Side Hammerless Shotgun, #217298. 12 ga., 28" "Titanic Steel" barrels have target beads, 2-3/4" chambers, concave matted rib, and are choked IC/MOD. Boxlock action utilizes a single underlug and dolls head rib extension for lockup and features double triggers, automatic safety, and simple extractors. Case hardened size 1-1/2 receiver is ornately engraved with a pointer on the left hand side, setter on the right, flushing pheasants on the bottom, and elaborate rose and scroll engraving surrounding the artwork. Beavertail forend and pistol grip buttstock are oil-finished "C" grade walnut, with extensive 21 and 26 LPI checkering, Parker Bros. gutta-percha grip cap, and brown "No-Shoc" recoil pad installed. Stock dimensions are 14-1/8" x 1-3/4" x 2-5/8". Gun was made in 1926 and looks to be an original, well-kept piece. Condition is very good, with 40%-50% case colors on the receiver, machine-turned water table, few handling marks to the wood, expected wear to the action, which closes tight and functions correctly; bores are mirror bright. Overall, there may have been some small repairs over the years, but the basic shotgun has been kept in its fundamental condition and should be ready for light field use today. Est.: $1,800-$2,400.
