#AP/1 Giacomo Fausti Engraved Renato Telo Arnold Palmer Tribute Side-by-Side Shotgun, #12536, 20 ga., 28" solid rib barrels have 2-3/4" chambers and are choked IC/Full. The boxlock action with sideplates features double underlug lockup, twin triggers, non-automatic safety, and selective ejectors. Receiver is coin finished, decorated with gold inlays, showing Arnold playing golf and shooting, other golf related images, and U.S. Historical Society emblem on the trigger guard, all are surrounded by elaborate scroll floral engraving. Engraving is signed "Fausti G." on one side of the trigger guard and "Creative Art" on the opposite side. All matching visible numbers. Splinter forend and straight grip buttstock are high gloss finished "C" grade walnut, with thorough checkering at 22 LPI. Coin finished nose piece with push-button release and a plain black plastic buttplate. LOP is 14-1/2". Made in 1990 by Renato Tello in Italy for the U.S. Historical Society in Richmond VA. Gun is contained in a heavy brown oak and leather case. A beautifully made shotgun that shows little evidence of possible use. Unfortunately, it was not stored properly, resulting in some frosted surface rust on the left side of the receiver, heaviest on the sideplate. There are also a few mild rust spots on the underside. It would be worth having a professional address these issues, on this otherwise excellent shotgun. Wood with a few light storage marks along bottom of the buttstock. Action functions correctly but is not broken in and a little stiff. Bores are bright. Only 100 of these shotguns were produced in 1990 and all were individually numbered in gold. This example is numbered "AP/1", where the few other examples we have seen are numbered "XX/100". It is also interesting to note that other examples list the barrel length as 26". Making this a possible pre-production before 26" barrel length became standard. Est: $2,000-$4,000. (Modern)
