RING CARBINE. Cal. 30 WCF. S# 88911. Bbl. 20". Model 1894 lever action saddle ring carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1897. Top of the bbl. is marked with a mostly legible Winchester address, with the cal. designation and "NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" marked towards the breech. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Sanded and refinished single band fastened plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with steel carbine buttplate. Apparent King (patent markings mostly illegible) triple bead front sight with period aftermarket V-notch rear sight. Upper receiver tang has been drilled with an extra hole, likely for a tang sight attachment.
