RIFLE. Cal. 30 WCF. S# 38379. Mfg. 1898. This example is fitted with a 26" Nickel steel oct bbl with Winchester express front & rear sights. It has the early "-MANUFACTURED BYT THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-" bbl address & "30 WCF" on the top flat. The take down straight grip frame has the early "MODEL 1894 / -WINCHESTER- / PAT. AUG. 21 1894" upper tang marking. The hammer has the early stylized knurling. Smooth straight grain walnut stock set with smooth steel crescent buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Museum Letter "Type: Rifle / Caliber: 30 / Barrel Type: Octagon / Trigger: Plain / Takedown / Received in warehouse on April 12, 1898 / Shipped from warehouse on July 14, 1898, Order number 13008". CONDITION: Overall very good. The bbl & mag tube retain 80% thinning original blue with a balanced brown patina blending with the bluing giving the rifle a nice aged dull blue appearance. The frame retains 50% of its original thinning blue the balance has a similar brown patinaed appearance, light scratches, & some cleaning rubs. The lever has some traces of case coloring in the protected areas. The stock set is very good with a light sanding and re-oiling. The forearm is hand worn with a few dents and minor dings.
