SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 50. An estimated 30,000 of these carbines were mfg from 1861-65. It is fitted with a 21 5/8" bbl with dovetailed German silver blade front sight & ladder adj rear carbine sight. 2-piece oil finished walnut stock set with nice inspector cartouches. CONDITION: Overall good. The bbl thin original blue with dense freckled oxidation and scattered handling marks. Frame retains a decent amount of the fading case coloring in the protected areas underneath a brown oxidized patina. The stock set is good with some scratches and handling marks. Markings and cartouches are crisp. Bore is dark with pitting and some rifling wear. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (01-29583/ZAL) ANTIQUE $1200-1800
