SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH STOCK / HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 105640. Bbl. 5 1/2". C96 "Red Nine" semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser under contract for the Imperial German military. The top flat of the faceted breech is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/ MAUSER/ OBERNDORF a/N", with the S# marked on the left quarter flat, a double crowned "U" commercial proof on the left flat (repeated on top of bolt), and with an Imperial German military acceptance proof on the right flat. Right side of the frame is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/ OBERNDORF A NECKAR", with an Imperial German reichsadler marked on the front of the mag. well. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Bolt is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood red "9" grips, featuring a lanyard provision and split key ring on the butt. Standard fixed blade front sight and tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 50-500. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, floorplate, sub-frame, sear, locking block, hammer, bbl./bbl. extension, bolt stop, bolt, as well as the grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: non-matching sanded and refinished wood stock / holster with brown leather harness that is seemingly marked "A.R.H. HOFFMAN/ BERLIN/ 1916". CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting light to mild edge wear, areas of wear and thinning (primarily on bbl. and lower rear edges of frame), some superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining good albeit worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some wear and superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Stock and harness are very good overall. (26-2076/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
