DATE MP40 SUBMACHINE GUN. Cal. 9mm (9x19mm). S# 6057K. Bbl. 10". MP40 submachine gun mfg. by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1942. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S# between x4 Steyr Eagle/WaA623 proofs (Eagle/WaA623 proof repeated on various parts and components). Top of lower assembly is marked "MP40/ bnz. 42" above the S#. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Grooved mottled brown pressed resin lower housing and 2-piece grips, with brown pressed resin resting bar. Standard hooded blade front sight and 2-leaf square notch rear sight graduated "100" and "200". Proper period brown leather sling. All serialized parts are matching and include the bbl., front sight hood, bbl. nut, receiver, rear sight assembly, bolt, telescoping recoil spring, as well as the lower assembly. NFA registry indicates "SCHMEISSER/ GERMANY WWII" in the mfg. block. MAGS: x5 blued steel 32-rd. mags. x1 "bte" coded "42" dated, x1 "bte" coded "43" dated, x2 "gqm" coded "43" dated, and x1 "kur" coded "43" dated. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Yugoslavian M56 brown leather 4-cell mag. pouch with shoulder strap and mag. loader pouch containing a "kur" coded "43" dated mag. loader. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining nearly all of their reapplied blue finish overall, exhibiting some scattered spots of light wear and thinning, some light superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light to mild pitting beneath the bluing. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Pressed resin furniture shows scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH.
