ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W. S# 16999. Approx 20,000 2nd models were mfg from 1872-74 within the SN range of 8000-32800. This example is fitted with a 7" bbl with " *SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 10. 60 JAN. 17. FEB. 17. JULY 11. 65 & AUG. 24. 69*" bbl address and pinned blade front sight. Blued finish. Square butt frame with the original smooth walnut stocks. The right grip is stamped on the underside with the full SN. Cylinder is number "237". CONDITION: overall very good. It retains 70% of the original thinning blue with some scattered handling marks and light shallow pitting at the muzzle. The grips are very good with some small edge chips and mild hand wear. There are some buggered screws in the bbl, latch and frame. Nice shiny bore with light rifling wear and some very small spots of pitting. (01-29115/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,500.
