94AE LEBANON COUNTY, PA LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 45 Colt. S# IA01797. Bbl. 20". 1 of only 10 Model 94AE lever action saddle ring carbines mfg. by Winchester commemorating Lebanon County, PA, this example being #1. Left side of the bbl. exhibits standard factory markings denoting Winchester's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Underside of the receiver is marked with the S# and "S.B.R. ETCHINGS 2002". Left side of the receiver features a near full coverage gold and silver laser engraved panel consisting of "ROBERT COLEMAN", "FORT ZELLER", "GEORGE ADAM STEITZ", "JAMES BUCHANAN", and "STOY MUSEUM" within the border, a Lebanon County map at the center between 2 gold plated banners reading "LEBANON COUNTY" and "ESTABLISHED FEBRUARY 16, 1815", with 2 additional banners "CORNWALL IRON FURNACE" (left) and "UNION CANAL" (right) below corresponding gold plated and engraved scenes. Right side of receiver features similar embellishments consisting of "LEBANON VALLEY COLLEGE", "TULPEHOCKEN MANOR", "ALEXANDER SCHAEFFER", "PETER WEIMAR", "WHITE MOUNTAIN", and "LENNE LANAPE INDIANS" within the border, 2 banners reading "LEBANON COUNTY" and "PENNSYLVANIA" above and below the loading gate, as well as 2 additional banners reading "THE PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH" and "LEBANON BOLOGNA" below corresponding gold plated and engraved scenes. Upper receiver tang is engraved with the American flag above "LEBANON COUNTY" within a banner. Top of the bolt is engraved with "1 OF 10" between 2 flint arrow heads. Top of the chamber area of the bbl. and forward sides of the lever feature foliate scroll engraving. Metal components exhibit a gold plated finish overall, with the sides of the hammer and top of the bolt being polished and jeweled in-the-white. Lever, lever link, trigger, lower receiver tang, and iron sights exhibit a blue finish. Single band fastened glossy finished wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with Winchester checkered black synthetic buttplate. Left side of forearm is relief laser engraved "LEBANON COUNTY" within a banner, followed by a vignette of a fox surrounded by oak leaves and acorns, with the right side featuring a vignette of a buck, followed by "PENNSYLVANIA" within a banner, also surrounded by oak leaves. Left side of buttstock features additional relief laser engraving, consisting of a 2 banners reading "CORNWALL" and "RAILROAD" on either side of a vignette of a train surrounded by oak leaves and acorns, followed by a large oval scene of a flying mallard, with the right side featuring "APPALACHIAN" and "TRAIL" within banners on either side of a horse and settler wagon scene. Dovetailed blade front sight and elevation adj. U-notch rear sight. Top of receiver is drilled and tapped with 4 plug screws for scope mount attachment. Receiver features a cross-bolt safety, with a saddle ring and stud present on the left. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original gold plated finish, exhibiting a couple of small handling marks on the left side of the mag. tube that have broken through the plating. Upper section of lever exhibits some light wear from cycling of the action. Edges of muzzle and mag. tube exhibit some light wear, with a small area of wear present on the saddle ring stud. Mirror bore, exhibiting a couple of small spots of apparent light surface oxidation and/or hardened grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows a few scattered superficial handling marks and a few impressions (most notably on the buttstock), but otherwise present nicely.
